Trolley Trail Day is Saturday, June 10 2023 – Live Music, Food & Drink Vendors, Family-Friendly Activities, Parkrun Fun Run, Bicycle Rides, Local Music, and more!

It’s official  – Trolley Trail Day 2023 is Saturday June 10, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. With eight activity hubs located along the entire length of the Trolley Trail, this year’s event is slated to be even bigger than the inaugural event in 2019. There are endless ways to enjoy Trolley Trail Day: live music, food and drink vendors, bicycle rides, day-of exercise classes, kid-friendly activities (including a scavenger hunt), public art projects, and amazing specials provided by local businesses. 

We’re so excited to share the amazing things we have planned for #TrolleyTrailDay2023. Here’s a quick look of what’s happening this year: 

Activity Hubs

Hollywood Shopping Center | 9805 Rhode Island Avenue, College Park, MD 20740

The Hollywood Shopping Center, managed by Carrollton Enterprises, is a shopping center located on Rhode Island Avenue in College Park, MD. Situated in the heart of the Hollywood Neighborhood, it is anchored by MOM’s Organic Market, Proteus Bikes and Brews, and has many locally owned businesses. It is also the location for a weekly, well-attended Hollywood Farmer’s Market where people can buy produce, sweets and crafts, and serves as a place to meet with neighbors, find out what is happening in the neighborhood and see what your community groups can offer. The Trolley Trail Day Hub will be located near the Farmer’s Market!

Hyattsville: “The Spot” | 4505 Hamilton Street, Hyattsville MD 20782

The Hyattsville Hub is at “the Spot” this year – a local pop-up park along the Trolley Trail in the Hyattsville Arts District. “The Spot” park is managed by the SoHy Co-op for the City of Hyattsville. Located at 4505 Hamilton Street along the Trolley Trail, this community gathering space also features Living Canopies technology (shade structures featuring native plants, and solar-powered, automatic watering systems) created by University of Maryland professor, Dave Tilley, who invented the “living umbrella” in 2015. This space is currently used by the City of Hyattsville during the summer for events featuring food trucks, live music, vendors, and more.

The Discovery District Hub Stop | Corner of Rossborough Lane and Rhode Island Avenue, College Park, MD, 20740

In the Discovery District, researchers, artists, and entrepreneurs tackle society’s grand challenges. From climate change to space exploration to quantum computing, Greater College Park’s innovators transform ideas into results. The Discovery District Hub Stop will be located on the corner of Rossborough Lane and Rhode Island Avenue, directly next to the Trolley Trail and just south of Campus Drive – where the Purple Line will run.

Riverdale Park Town Center | 4650 Queensbury Road, Riverdale, MD 20737

Located at 4650 Queensbury Road, along the Trolley Trail, the Riverdale Park Town Center Hub is a vibrant, community space that brings together people, purpose, live music, good food, and more. There are many ways to enjoy this historic space as it has several locally owned businesses, and hosts a weekly long-standing Farmer’s Market on Thursdays, Train Stop Tunes on Fridays. The Riverdale Park Town Center also features access to the MARC Train, on the Camden Line, connecting people to Baltimore and Washington, D.C. Riverdale Park Town Center Hub will be hoppin’: This year, Riverdale Park Town Center will feature:

Riverdale Park Station | 6621 Baltimore Avenue, Riverdale Park, MD 20737

Riverdale Park Station located just north of the Riverdale Park Town Center in the Town of Riverdale Park, and just south of the City of College Park, is a new place to shop, gather, live, work and play. It’s a new mixed-use development that is anchored by Prince George’s County’s first Whole Foods and a number of other restaurants and retail. It is well connected to the Discovery District, and other locations in College Park and Riverdale Park. The Station at Riverdale Park will host its hub at the “Village Green” just east of Bear Square along the Trolley Trail. Old Parish House in College Park | 4711 Knox Road, College Park, MD, 20740

The Old Parish House is located in a residential area near the Old Town and Calvert Hills neighborhoods in College Park. It was built in 1817 and originally served the Calvert Mansion as a dairy barn. It is one of only two surviving buildings from the Riversdale Estate. It is one-story high with a gable roof, segmentally arched windows and side walls supported by brick buttresses. From 1894 to 1930, the building housed the congregation of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church and once a new church was constructed, became its parish house. After 1957, the building was the headquarters of the College Park Woman’s Club until the City of College Park became owner in 1998.

Lakeland’s James Adams and Lakeland Community Parks | Berwyn House Road & Rhode Island Avenue, College Park, MD, 20740

Nestled in the Lakeland Community of the City of College Park, the James Adams Park is located at the corner of Berwyn House Road and Rhode Island Avenue next to the Trolley Trail. This tranquil spot, home to many native plants and pollinators, was dedicated in 1995 in honor of James Adams, one of Lakeland’s avid ecologists and landscapers. Adams was also a member of the University of Maryland’s Grounds Crew for 37 years and was instrumental in the installation of the big M on the University’s campus circle. In addition, was a past president of the Lakeland Civic Association and an active member of the City of College Park’s Committee for a Better Environment. The Lakeland Hub will also have activities at the Lakeland Community Park directly next to the Trolley Trail. This location is a former trolley stop on the old line.

Berwyn Business District | Jack Perry Plaza and the corner of Berwyn Road and Rhode Island Avenue, College Park, MD, 20740

The Berwyn Business District in the City of College Park, MD, is located in a peaceful oasis tucked away from the incessant hustle and bustle of downtown College Park. As an early streetcar suburb of Washington, D.C., most of the buildings were built in the 1900s and are early examples of mixed-use development. There are many angular “u”-shaped and “v”-shaped roads in Berwyn. Many of College Park’s dedicated public servants have called Berwyn home, including Jack Perry who served on the City Council for 26 years, the second longest-serving City councilmember in College Park’s history.
