Congratulations to our partners at the Terrapin Development Company (TDC), City of College Park, Prince George’s County, the University of Maryland, and the Bozzuto Group for securing the first Trader Joe’s in Prince George’s County in downtown College Park!

A lot of effort has gone into bringing Trader Joe’s to College Park and Prince George’s County – thanks to all who have worked together to make it happen. It was not long ago that there were no grocery options within walking distance of most of College Park, including campus! With Trader Joe’s coming, it improves accessibility of grocery options in College Park and the area. Trader Joe’s will open on the ground floor of Aster College Park at the corner of Calvert Road and Baltimore Avenue later this year.

“We are grateful to city, county and university leadership who have joined forces with Bozzuto, Willard Retail and JP Morgan to champion this effort every step of the way,” said Ken Ulman, TDC president, UMD’s chief strategy officer for economic development and board member of CP City-University Partnership. “We are eager for Trader Joe’s to open its doors to Maryland students, faculty and staff and our College Park neighbors, as we drive even more economic growth in the region.”

The City of College Park’s Mayor, Patrick Wojahn, celebrates the announcement; “we are thrilled to welcome Trader Joe’s to our diverse and vibrant community. This high-quality grocer will provide a great business for our residents and visitors, marking another milestone in our reinvention of downtown College Park.”
