Ever since its feature in the #CollegeParkScene a year and a half ago, The Board and Brew has continued to thrive. This casual full-service restaurant remains a popular location for grabbing coffee, enjoying lunch and dinner, and playing board games for families and college students.
Recently, the location has added new events, including Terp Tuesdays, which offers a special menu to students of the owners’ alma mater. All day on Tuesdays, UMD students can show their student ID to receive a discounted price on many select menu items, such as a cheeseburger with fries for $10.
Tuesdays also have table-top game nights every other week, which is a great chance for enthusiasts of role-playing games such as D&D to enjoy them together. If you’re less experienced with board games or want to learn something new, staff members known as “board game gurus” walk around the restaurant during the evenings to teach games to customers, and sometimes even play with them!
If you’re more interested in testing your other knowledge, The Board and Brew also has trivia night, which is very popular among guests.
Overall, The Board and Brew has a great atmosphere for its community, supporting local artists and offering a space for all to meet and mingle. For one, it contains an intriguing selection of art on the walls, which is mostly created by students from the university. While these paintings are a wonderful addition to the aesthetic of the restaurant, they’re available for sale, so customers can support local college students by purchasing one to take home. Furthermore, the restaurant hosts Meetup Nights, which are perfect chance for guests of all ages to meet each other. Starting at 6pm on Mondays, individuals gather to enjoy playing games with people they’ve never met.
This perfect college-town establishment is currently reworking its menu to add new specials and options that accommodate its wide range of customers, including more vegan and vegetarian dishes. Don’t miss out!
