The Spot Mini is a small-scale iteration of the Asian and Polynesian Food Hall in Rockville, Maryland. Opened in 2018, the original ‘The Spot’ holds seven vendors: Gong Cha, Cheers Cut, Mian, Poki DC, Alpaca Dessert, Spot Bar, and Spot Grill.
Shortly after The Spot’s opening success, Edward Wong opened ‘The Spot Mini’ in 2019, featuring three of the seven food vendors housed at their original location: Poki DC, Gong Cha, and Akira. Though the College Park location is slightly more specialized in its offerings, there are many options to choose from:
Poki DC – inspired by Hawaiian cuisine, this vendor prepares poke bowls with fresh ingredients: , from proteins such as salmon and ahi tuna and tofu, to colorful toppings such as avocado, seaweed salad, and mango, and flavorful sauces.
Gong Cha – is a Chinese-inspired, international beverage franchise, specializing in freshly prepared bubble tea. Popping boba are tapioca pearls made of seaweed extract, calcium compounds, fruit juice, water and a sweetener. These pearls are then mixed with a tea base, milk, and fruits.
Akira – the Japanese merchant offers both sushi and other prepared items. One popular item is the Bento Box; a single-portion meal consisting of protein (shrimp, beef, chicken, salmon, or vegetables), miso soup, salad, shumai, and California rolls. All options are for approximately $14.00!
