This year is flying by, as we enter the holiday season, and something else is flying too… the Santa fly-in at the CollegePark Aviation Museum. On Saturday, December 3rd join us at 1985 Corporal Frank Scott Drive, College Park, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m to visit Santa at College Park’s airport!
This historic airport began as Wilbur Wright instructed the first military aviators in 1909. Serving as a leader in aviation instruction and expanding the United States postal system in 1918, this airport is a dynamic center. The U.S. Air Mail Service launched its first flight flying from College Park Airfield to New York City. Nearly 80 years later, in 1998, as an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution, the College Park Aviation Museum opened.
The museum is located in the Discovery District of College Park by the College Park Metro and the Junior Tennis Champions Center. You can enjoy your visit with guided tours, engaging family programs, and unique exhibits. The reproduction aircraft will catch your eye and the various crafts will keep children’s hands busy. Ever changing exhibits encourage returning visitors yet, constants like the 1919 airmail hangar and Compass Rose, are timeless at the College Park Aviation Museum.
For this jolly time of year however, attendees can take pictures with Santa and participate in several crafts. Reserve your Santa picture time by emailing email@example.com and secure your spot at the event here. Museum members are free and non-members are $5. Come one, come all to the Aviation Museum to celebrate the holiday season!
