College Park Parkrun celebrated its 250th  live run last weekend. Parkrun is an excellent way to stay active and get involved. Run, walk, jog, or volunteer – participate in the way that works best for you.

College Park Parkrun is a free 5k event, hosted every Saturday at Paint Branch Trail, 4289 Metzerott Road. Parkrun is followed by a communal post-run coffee at the Board and Brew, located at 8150 Baltimore Avenue.

While many beat their previous Personal Record (PR) during parkrun, participants are welcome to participate in the movement best suited to them. College Park Parkrun also offers volunteer opportunities.

Every Saturday at 9:00am.

The event takes place at Paint Branch Trail, 4289 Metzerott Road, College Park, MD 20740. See Course page for more details.

The Course:

The course is 5000m (5k) long, as measured by Parkrun associates. The course is at Paint Branch Trail, 4289 Metzerott Road, College Park. The course is a mixture of asphalt trail paths and wooden footbridges. Some sections of the course may accumulate mud, leaves and puddles after rain. The course is flat and almost entirely shaded. Parkrun uses shared paths.

Parkrun organizers encourage participants to walk, jog, cycle, carpool, or use public transport wherever possible when attending the event, as parking may be limited. On most Saturdays, there is ample parking near the start (and post-run coffee) in University of Maryland Lot 11b. This lot is a short 0.4 mile walk to the start, and convenient for post-run coffee. Periodically, lot 11b is unavailable before football games and other special events, so check signs for restrictions. Post-run coffee and snacks can be found directly across the footbridge from this lot. College Park Parkrun’s Course map shows this parking location. How to Register:

Parkrun is free to all participants. Organizers ask that you register before you first come along for participants who would like to obtained timed results. Participants only need to register for Parkrun once. Once registered, don’t forget to bring a scannable copy of your barcode (request a reminder). If you forget it, you won’t get a time. You may participate without a barcode; participants without a barcode will not appear in the results table.
