Lauren Filocco ‘12 wrote up her business plan for an inclusive and unique local fitness studio that combines yoga, ballet and pilates fundamentals in a supportive group setting.

OpenBarre regulars rave about the concentrated and body-sculpting workouts and affordable classes provided to the community. OpenBarre offers numerous in-person classes varying in intensity: from HIIT workout, to stretch classes. HIIT workouts provide a more direct cardio and muscle building approach, and stretch facilitates more blood flow and muscle release. For first time fitness enthusiasts, OpenBarre offers a free class/tour of the studio on the 1st and 19th of every month. At just $16 a session, whether it be HIIT classes with cardio, 45 minute Barre Express classes condensing the typical 1 hour Barre class, or Mom Classes providing new mothers a space to reconnect with their bodies, OpenBarre has it all. While some classes can be strenuous, they can all be modified to meet individual needs.

If you are more comfortable engaging virtually, for $15 a month you gain access to an on-demand catalog of full-length, recorded classes and livestreams.

Located in downtown College Park at 7338 Baltimore Ave Suite 200. Studio hours of operation are based on OpenBarre’s in-person schedule. View their schedule here. Keep an eye out for events partnering with other businesses in the Route 1 area, such as The Hotel, where rooftop barre classes have been offered. Take a look at their feature in the Prince George’s County Economic Development Corporation’s Business Spotlight here.
