The University of Maryland Child Development Center, located on 4601 Calvert Road in College Park, just opened in early 2021. The University of Maryland formed a partnership with Bright Horizons to open this center where quality care and education is provided to 120 students in the local community. The center serves more than one level of care and offers their services to infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and pre-kindergarteners. The opening of the development center intends to bring University students, staff, and local residents closer together.

As detailed on their website, the center offers an enriching and creative curriculum for every student based on their developmental needs. While focusing on math, science, art, the curriculum also teaches important life lessons and skills helping to form a more aware and caring individual. Each teacher at the center is trained and dedicated to creating a safe and nurturing environment for every child. Following the Reggio Emilia and Montessori philosophies, the classrooms are built for children to have open-ended and joyful experiences. Through the established curriculum and guidance of professional teachers, every student at the center will be able to have an enriching experience of learning.
