The College Park Gift Card Giveaway program has been live for a month, and we have awarded exactly $1,000 in gift cards to members of our community in order to promote the support of local restaurants. This week, our featured restaurants included Aroy Thai Restaurant, Shanghai Tokyo Cafe, Potomac Pizza, Vigilante Coffee, and Looney’s Pub. For our questions of the week, we asked participants, “Which College Park restaurant would you most like to take a cooking class at? What are you making off their menu?”
In our previous round of giveaways, we asked entrants to tell us which CP restaurants are their favorite to bring their friends and families to. Just like last week, our newest responses name over 30 different restaurants in total. This week, however, Aroy Thai stood out as the most ideal restaurant to receive cooking lessons. If College Park residents were lucky enough to learn from the chefs at this local establishment, more than one of them would opt to master the pad see ew, pad thai, drunken noodles, mango and sticky rice, and curry dishes. While these menu items were notably the most popular, Aroy Thai’s spring rolls, papaya salad, pad ka pow, and chicken satay have also earned themselves special recognition.
Each of the other four restaurants featured in this week’s giveaway were mentioned by participants as well. For instance, Potomac Pizza is not only loved for its specialty pies; several guests would also jump at the opportunity to recreate the restaurant’s pasta dishes, including its eggplant parmesan, Alfredo, and lasagna. If given the chance, fans of Looney’s Pub would master the sports bar’s nacho, chicken-tender, and crab-pretzel recipes. At Shanghai Tokyo Cafe, guests would learn to make a variety of Asian dishes, including sushi and General Tso’s crispy chicken. Finally, even though it doesn’t involve cooking, a couple of coffee-enthusiasts named Vigilante as their first choice of restaurants in College Park, so that they could perfect the skills of the baristas at this cafe.
Of course, these are only a few of the responses we received from almost 120 participants. To find out what some of the other answers were, stay tuned for future #CollegeParkScene posts!
