College Park’s bikeshare initiative is gaining traction around the city. The city has partnered with Zagster, a Massachusetts based bikeshare company. The local program, known as mBike, brings 125 bikes to 14 stations located throughout the city, including downtown College Park, the College Park Metro station, and various spots within the University of Maryland campus.

Riders can rent daily for $6, monthly for $25, or annually for $65. Joining the mBike program is simply done by downloading the free Zagster mobile app or online through the mBike website.

Down the road, the city plans to implement additional stations at various hot spots throughout the city, including places like The Hotel at the University of Maryland.

There is hope that this program will increase safety for bike riders by working on making streets more bike-friendly. Bikeshare also has the potential to improve connectivity across the city, as commuters can get from the metro to campus or other parts of the city with ease.
